Spray Foam Insulation
Closed-cell spray foam is one of the most effective insulation materials on the market. It expands on contact, creating a seamless air barrier that seals every crack and crevice. This means no drafts, no moisture intrusion, and improved structural strength, up to 200-300%!
We use professional-grade closed-cell foam that adds an R value of 7 per inch — making it ideal for walls, roofs, rim joists, and basement foundations. Spray foam also resists mold, pests, and vapor transmission. It's the go-to option for maximum energy efficiency, especially in Minnesota’s extreme climate.
Batt & Poly
Batt insulation (commonly fiberglass) is a tried-and-true method for insulating homes and buildings.
At Cardinal Installations, each batt is carefully cut between studs and joists to ensure proper coverage, then install polyethylene vapor barriers (plastic sheeting) over the insulation to protect against moisture and air infiltration.
This combo is most often used in walls, ceilings, and basements during new builds or remodels. It’s affordable, reliable, and meets code — especially when installed cleanly and professionally.

Blown in
Blown-in insulation is perfect for attics, ceiling cavities, or any space where traditional batt installation isn’t practical. Using specialized equipment, we blow loose fiberglass material into place, allowing it to fill every gap and void for even coverage.
This method is great for attic upgrades, and top-offs, improving your home’s R-value without the need for major demolition. It also helps prevent ice dams, reduce sound transmission, and cut heating and cooling costs year-round.
Garages/Pull Barns
Whether you're working out of a garage, a pole barn, or a combination of both — proper insulation makes all the difference in comfort, energy savings, and usability.
We insulate attached and detached garages, workshops, and pole barns using closed-cell spray foam, fiberglass batt, or blown-in insulation — depending on the structure and your budget. Our insulation helps:
-
Keep the space warm in winter and cool in summer
-
Reduce noise and echo (especially important for metal structures)
-
Prevent condensation and moisture buildup
-
Improve energy efficiency if you're heating or cooling the space
-
Create a cleaner, more controlled environment for tools, vehicles, or livestock
Whether you're finishing a garage, upgrading a shop, or insulating a large agricultural pole barn, we tailor our installation to your specific needs — clean, sealed, and built to last.
Basements & Crawl Spaces
Basements and crawl spaces are some of the biggest sources of energy loss in a home. At Cardinal Insulations, we properly seal and insulate these areas to keep your home warmer in the winter, cooler in the summer, and protected from moisture year-round.
We insulate rim joists, foundation walls, and crawl space ceilings using closed-cell spray foam or rigid foam board—depending on the space and budget. For crawl spaces with dirt floors, we also install vapor barriers to block moisture and improve air quality.
By treating these often-overlooked areas, we help prevent cold floors, reduce drafts, and protect your home from mold and mildew caused by excess humidity.
Why it matters:
-
Eliminates cold air entry points
-
Controls moisture and improves indoor air quality
-
Boosts energy efficiency and comfort from the ground up
